AROUND THE GROUPS

There are currently twelve Groups at nine locations across Fife each week, providing various activities to encourage social interaction and confidence building, helping to make new friends and make the most of life in the community. 

Although the Groups are supported by volunteer helpers, many of whom have given years of service, and by paid staff, they are in essence what their users of the service make them. All the Groups are safe places where people can relax and move forward at their own pace, but each Group has its own character.

At the Groups participants receive a light breakfast of toast and tea/coffee (bottomless) and a simple lunch at the end. Activities are decided individually and include playing various games, doing arts and crafts, doing crosswords and other puzzles, playing bingo, or just sitting and chatting with old and new friends. 

Groups are served by a Group Co-ordinator and assisted by Case Worker and Volunteers. Case Workers can undertake one to one work with people requiring a bit more help, with things such as dealing with letters and appointments, or with other agencies, such as banks or the council. They also work with service users to develop and maintain individual recovery plans using the IROC (Individual Recovery Outcome Counter) © system developed by Penumbra.
