BUILDING BRIDGES TOGETHER TOWARDS BETTER MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING
For almost 50 years, people in Fife experiencing mental health problems have been able to turn to Express Group to help them cope and recover. The aim is to promote positive mental wellbeing by providing a safe place for sharing experiences and peer support. This aim is as relevant today as it was in 1977, when Express Group started to operate, and the number of people living in the community with mental health problems is as large as ever.
There are currently twelve groups at nine locations across Fife each week, providing various activities to encourage social interaction and confidence building, helping to make new friends and make the most of life in the community. The groups are run by a dedicated staff, volunteers and very much by the members themselves, which creates a feeling of belonging and safety. For some, the groups are perhaps the only place they can meet people and socialise; for others, they are a chance to help and show what they can do. The cooked meal at the end of the morning is a definite draw for many!
We have referral system in place for joining our groups. Please download referral or self-referral form here or contact us for more details.
We are open for new referrals and self-referrals, especially for groups in Tayport, St Andrews, Kirkcaldy and Lochgelly. Click here for more details.

Jacquie Mellon
A Message from Jacquie, Service Manager
Mental Health Awareness week 2026 organised by Mental Health Foundation
runs from May 11 – 17 and this year’s focus is “Action”, focussing on moving
beyond awareness to taking positive steps to support mental health.
You can take Action for yourself, for someone else and for all of us!
Instead of thinking about sharing stories and quotes think about sharing a positive
action we can all do each day to support mental health. We can ask those in our
networks and those we work with to share their personal actions.
Thursday 14 May 2026 is Wear it Green Day – encourage staff and followers to wear
green sharing photos to share support across social media.
There are free resources available here Mental Health Awareness Week | Mental
Health Foundation which will help reduce stigma, improve knowledge and improve
understanding around mental health.
Throughout this week you can use #MenatlHealthAwarenessWeek alongside
#ActionForMentalHealth to join conversations, think about your own communities –
groups, networks, staff and service users.
Remember –
Mental health is just as important as physical health
It’s OK to not be OK
Every action counts!
We welcome Jacquie Mellon as our new Service Manager with the upcoming retirement of Gary Guichan.
